You come to us
The simplest option, and the cheapest.
General Notary
$15 per notarial act, the Washington maximum. Come to meet us in Tacoma, have us drive to you, or sign online the same day.
Every fee is listed on this page.
Your office, a library or café, a hospital or care facility.
Fees follow the Department of Licensing caps.
A vehicle title, a consent form, an affidavit a court asked for. The document is routine. The deadline usually is not. Come to us, we come to you, or the whole thing happens over video.
Notarized
$15 per act
Who this is for
This page is for you if you have the document, you know who's signing, and you just need it notarized correctly.
It's not the right page if you're signing a will, trust or several estate documents at once. Estate Planning is set up for that. If you're signing for a company, see Business Notary. If you're outside our travel area, Remote Online Notarization works anywhere in Washington.
New to notarization? Start with our overview of what a Tacoma notary public can do. General notary work is simple, and that's why mistakes slip through. A missing journal entry or the wrong certificate wording usually goes unnoticed until the document is rejected.
Three ways to do this
The simplest option, and the cheapest.
Your office, a library or café, a hospital or care facility.
From home, with your ID and a camera.
What we can notarize
Look for the notarial certificate. It's the section near the signature line with space for a seal, a date and the notary's signature. If your document has one, it's almost certainly something we can handle. Not sure? Text a photo of that page to (206) 502-9670 and we'll tell you before you book.
What a notary can't do.
Form I-9 is not a notarial act. We can complete it as the employer's authorized representative, but we won't stamp it. A sealed I-9 can be rejected.
We can't choose your notarization type or give legal advice. Washington law doesn't allow notaries to draft documents, explain what they mean, or pick the certificate wording. If you don't know whether you need an acknowledgment or a jurat, ask whoever asked you for the document, or ask an attorney.

*Notarial fees are charged per notarial act, which usually means one per signer, per document. Two people signing one deed is typically two acts. Travel is charged once per visit, no matter how many documents or signers. You'll get your exact total before we confirm the appointment.
Before You Arrive
It needs to be government-issued and unexpired, and the name should match the document. No ID? Ask us about credible witnesses before you book.
Bring every page, including the notary certificate, with all blanks filled in. We can't notarize a document that still has blanks.
Some notarizations require us to watch you sign. If you wait, it works for every type and nobody has to reprint anything.
Co-signers and any required witnesses need to be there with their own ID.
Booking for someone in a hospital or care facility? The signer has to be alert and able to tell us they understand what they're signing. Call ahead if you're not sure, so the trip isn't wasted.
Signing remotely? Have your ID and a device with a camera and microphone. Find a quiet room with good light. Plan for about 15 minutes.

Frequently asked
Washington caps the notarial act itself at $15 for a traditional or electronic in-person notarization, and $25 for a remote online notarization. If we travel to you, a mobile travel fee is added based on distance, and evening, weekend, or rush appointments add a scheduling fee. Every figure is published on the pricing page and confirmed before your appointment.
Either works. If you come to us, you pay only the notarial act fee. If we travel to you, a mobile travel fee is added: $35 within about 10 miles, $50 for 10 to 20 miles, $65 for 20 to 30 miles, and $30 plus travel for hospital and nursing home visits.
Bring a current government-issued photo ID and the complete document. Don't sign it yet. Some notarizations require us to watch you sign, and waiting works for all of them. Anyone else who has to sign needs to come too, with their own ID.
No, and any notary who offers to is overstepping. A notary public verifies identity and witnesses signatures. We cannot draft documents, choose which form you need, or explain a document's legal effect. For that, please speak with an attorney.
