Estate Planning

The signing, done at the pace it deserves

Wills, trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare directives. Time is set aside so nobody is rushed toward a signature, whether at a library, at a hospital, or at an attorney's office.

Witnessed $15 per act

Who this is for

Estate documents tend to arrive at difficult moments: a diagnosis, a move into care, a family finally sitting down together. The paperwork is often prepared by an attorney and the signing is the last step, but it is the step that has to be done correctly.

This is the right service if you are signing a will, a trust, a power of attorney, or a healthcare directive, and you would rather the appointment be unhurried than efficient. Visits to hospitals, care facilities, and quiet public places are routine.

How We Approach It

Care that goes beyond the seal

Unhurried appointments

Time is set aside so signers can read, ask, and sign at their own pace.

Bedside and facility visits

Hospital and nursing home appointments are available; a $30 facility fee applies, plus travel and the notary fee.

Awareness and willingness

Every signer must be acting freely and understand that they are signing. That is a requirement, not a formality.

Discretion by default

Family circumstances stay private. We are there to notarize, not to comment.

A notary is not a substitute for an attorney. Maktub Mobile Notary performs notarial acts only. We cannot draft your documents, advise which instrument you need, or explain what a provision means. Please have estate documents prepared or reviewed by a licensed Washington attorney.

Your money, before you commit

Fees you can check before you call

Washington caps the notarial act itself at $15 for a traditional or electronic in-person notarization, and $25 for a remote online notarial act. Travel and scheduling fees are separate line items, disclosed and agreed in advance. Every figure is published on the pricing page.

Frequently asked

Estate Planning questions

Bring your current, government-issued photo ID and the complete document, unsigned. Washington notaries must witness the signature, so please do not sign ahead of time. If the document names additional signers or witnesses, they need to attend as well.

Either works. If you come to us, you pay only the notarial act fee. If we travel to you, a mobile travel fee is added: $35 within about 10 miles, $50 for 10 to 20 miles, $65 for 20 to 30 miles, and $30 plus travel for hospital and nursing home visits.

No, and any notary who offers to is overstepping. A notary public verifies identity and witnesses signatures. We cannot draft documents, choose which form you need, or explain a document's legal effect. For that, please speak with an attorney.

We are based in Tacoma and travel throughout the South Puget Sound, including Lakewood, University Place, Puyallup, Fife, Federal Way, Gig Harbor, Bonney Lake, and Sumner. Travel fees are calculated by distance, so please confirm your address when you book.
